A STEM Nature Activity:

HOW TO MEASURE TREE HEIGHT

Why are Outdoor STEM Activities Important?

  1. They give your kids an opportunity to step away from their desks and practice math and science in a real environment.
  2. Instead of completing a worksheet, they're recording actual scientific data and analyzing their results.
  3. Because ditching their 4 walls for outdoor learning is always more FUN!

What Ages are Appropriate for this Activity?

  1. You can start this activity as early as 3 or 4 years old, but the kids become more engaged with the measurements around 5 or 6 years old.
  2. This is also a great activity for teenagers because you can review geometry (isosceles triangles) and trigonometry (taking the tangent of angles).
  3. So, unless you only have preschoolers at home, this activity will work for your family and kids of multiple ages!
